Inkfest 2012 was the first convention of its kind, merging tattooing and music over three days at Woolacombe Bay Holiday Park in North Devon with amazing views over the bay.
The whole studio had been looking forward to this convention for over a year and we were one of the first to book! Initially four artists were going but unfortunately only Yoni and myself could make it in the end. Luckily we still had a large group of us and the fabulous Miss FooFoo von Ladygarden was selling her awesome jewellery and hair bits too.
Tattooing started on the Friday and I had a Psychobilly tattoo to do on an old customer I first met at The Halloween Tattoo Bash in 2009. Friday nights entertainment was brilliant, The Rocker Covers were amazing and by far our favourite band of the weekend.
Both Yoni & I were working on Saturday and I started out with finishing a pair of Frankenstein & Bride of Frankenstein cupcakes on one of my fellow Dorset Roller Girls. I then did a small gypsy head on a walk-in customer that really wanted me to do the tattoo this weekend. Shattered, we all headed out for a meal and drinks in Woolacombe village.
Sunday was our last day at Inkfest and the day of the awards too. I started my friend Hannah’s leg tattoo (her Cat, ‘Elvis’) at midday and only just got it finished in time for judging in the afternoon! Luckily for me it turned out to be the winner of Best of Show!! So happy!! And I almost missed the awards being given out too!!
All-in-all, an amazing weekend with a great bunch of friends. We’re definitely going back to Inkfest next year!picasaView plugin: Could not load data from picasaweb.
